Union call to workers

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 2. The New Zealand Tramways Union would issue “scores of thousands” of leaflets to trade-union members throughout New Zealand calling for support to stop all part-time and holiday work, the union president (Mr T. Spiller) said in ■Auckland today. “We are hoping to mobilise the whole trade union movement to oppose any part-time workers. We believe all should have a 40-hour week ‘with a working wage,” he said. Mr Spiller said concern began when the Auckland Regional Authority began using part-time and holiday workers on buses during peak periods in the mornings and evenings.
