Two will play in Australia

The New Zealand I Bowling Association has jdecided to accede to the wishes of the tournament ; organisers in Dunedin l and send two players from the world bowls team that is going to South Africa, to contest an international pairs tournament in Newcastle. Australia in March.

The players chosen are Vic Sellars and Bob McDonald. There had been suggestions that two fresh players might have been chosen, which made Stan Lawson (Christchurch), a reserve for South Africa, a strong candidate.

The tournament will come just after the championships in South Africa, and Sellars and McDonald will simply stop over in Newcastle on their way home, minimising the travel costs. The South Island team to play the North Island in March will be named after the South Island final of the Rothmans inter-centre tournament at Timaru on February- 1.
