f.V Z Press Association) AUCKLAND Pam Hendren (Lyndalei, lor the second week in succession, won a fine long-jumping duel over the Canterbury' Common wealth Games representative. Sue Burnside, at Mount Smart Stadium yesterday. Mis Hendren and Mis* Burn side both have Olympx ambitions in this event. Miss Burnside, who is also an excellent pentathlon competitor is concentrating on the long jump under the advice of her coach, V. Breidis. who Valerie Sloper-Young to Com monwealth gold and Olympx silver medals, and Barbara Pou I sen to a Commonwealth silver medal, in the shot put.
Mrs Hendren, aided by a 12ft per second following wind, von the event with a jump of 6 27 metres (20ft 71n), and exceeded 20ft with her other five attempts to win the contest.
Miss Burnside was actual I'. pushed back to third by M Noelene Hodgins (Papakura), v ho jumped 587 metres (19ft 3in«
