Situation: An anticyclone in the Tasman Sea extends a developing ridge of high pressure to the south-east of the South Island. A south-westerly airstream covers the northern half of the North Island, but a trough of low pressure is spreading quickly north, followed by south-easterly winds. Forecasts:
Marlborough, Nelson: Mainly fresh, south to scuth-east winds, tending northeasterly about the Kaikoura coast; mainly cloudy, with
some showers about the eastern high country, but fine weather in Nelson, with moderate temperatures. Buller. Westland: Moderate winds from the southerly quarter predominating; fine weather, with rising daytime temperatures. Canterbury: Moderate south* easterlies, tending northeasterly; cloudy about the coast, but becoming fine inland, with rising day temperatures. Outlook: Fair.
