The national junior tennis (selectors (Messrs H. Dillon, (convener, J. Gilmour, and J. Roach) were yesterday accused by the Christchurch | professional coach. Mr S. F. C. Clarke, of making “a i serious error of judgment" in (omitting Miss Chapman from (the three-strong team. Asked for his reaction to the team, Mr Clarke, who has coached Miss Chapman since (she was 10, said he was “in- ' censed” by the non-selection of the 17-year-old Canterbury (singles champion. Miss Chapman was named •as the non-travelling reserve (to the team, which will consist of Brenda Perry, Sheryl Tebbutt, and Helen Harris. ’All three have played Wilson Cup tennis for New Zealand before. Three Canterbury players will form the national junior boys team to compete in the Linton Cup series, also in Brisbane. They are Peter Hampton, iwho is the new national junior champion, Stephen (Harley, and Michael Mooney. I Hampton was a member of last seasons Linton Cup team. The reserve player is Joe Harvey (Auckland). Also chosen yesterday were the national boys’ and (girls’ under-16 teams for the 'Wayne Reid series against (Australian state sides. The boys’ team consists of ( David Patterson (Wellington), Stephen Norman (Auckland), and Mark Lewis (Auckland), with another Aucklander, (Stephen Smith, as ieserve. Lewis is a younger brother (of Chris Lewis, the Wimbledon junior champion. The members of the girls’ team are Debbie Leat (North Shore), Gay Robinson (Otago), and Arlene Rolleston (Bay of Plenty), with Bronwyn Corson (Auckland) as reserve. The manager of the two girls’ team will be Mrs C. Newton (Canterbury). The Linton Cup team will be ini the care of Mr R. Turner: (Auckland), and the manager: of the Wayne Reid side will! be Mr E.
