Restart on building urged

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Technical institutes have asked the Government to get their building programme restarted. Representatives of the Technical Institutes Association met the Minister of Education (Mr Gandar) last week-end and tolj him their prorities for technical education. All building at technical institutes . had stopped last August, they said, and should be restarted as a highest priority. “This is our greatest concern,” said the association’s president (Mr J. Bateman) today. “Many buildings were programmed to start this year, but none have been committed to tender.” “We have had no building activity or equipment since August, when the money ran out,” Mr Bateman said. The association also asked the Government to start building residential accommodation for technical students, to provide more administrative staff, and to allow full staff representation on institute councils.
