‘Pallisers’ top programme
Most popular programme among Christchurch viewers in the week beginning November 15 was "The Pallisers,” while highest rated programme in Auckland was “M.A.S.H.” Second favourite for Christchurch viewers was “Tonight at Nine,” which came only ninth in Auckland, while “M.A.S.H.” came third. The escapism of “Six Million Dollar Man” came second in Auckland, and “Coronation Street” was third.
Audience research by the Broadcasting Council shows up some interesting differences between viewers in the two cities, and no doubt social scientists may be able to read into them differences in the kind of people who watch TV in the two centres and their habits. This is what the survey showed in terms of largest ’audiences for that week: CHRISTCHURCH 1. "The Pallisers” (TVI, Sun.). 2. “Tonight at Nine (TVI, Fri,). 3. M.A.S.H.
