Two admit drugs raid
(From Our Own Reporter} NELSON. Two youths have pleaded guilty in the Nelson Magistrate’s Court to a charge of breaking and entering the Golden Bay Pharmacy, Takaka, on the night of December 5. Each was convicted by Mr K. H. J. Headifen, S.M., and remanded for a week for a probation officer’s report and sentence. Stephen Thomas Meares, aged 17, unemployed, and Anthony Dale Walling, aged 17, a sawman, were both granted bail of $2OO, with one police-approved surety of $2OO, and ordered to report daily. Two other young men who absconded from bail after they appeared last week to answer a similar charge, had bench warrants issued for their arrest. Sergeant R. E. Edie said the two youths, with the other two, travelled to Takaka to break into the pharmacy to get drugs. They waited in the car while the other two entered the shop, and later took a share of the goods stolen, which included watches, drugs and cameras.
