A postal auction of stamp and philatelic material helby the Christchurch firm cl Laurie Franks, Ltd, resulted in sales worth $59,700.
Although bids for the . auction closed on Novetnbei 18, the firm is still receiving payments from overseabidders. who accounted foi about $50,000. A total of 4276 lots wa‘ offered, and several of thr higher-priced lots failed to get a bid The top price wa s $l2OO, for a collection ol > covers from Iceland. A block of six of the five shilling ; Sydney Harbour Bridge stamps issued by Australia in 1932 went at $ll5O.
