N.Z. men out of Laos
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Dec. 9. Two Hamilton men who were caught in Laos during the recent political disturbances were today in Thailand, after flying out of Vientiane on Sunday. Stephen Jenkins, aged 21, and Neil Glenday, aged 24, were held in a Vientiane hotel after the Laotian border was closed on November 18. Mr and Mrs D. P. Jenkins received a telephone call from Bangkok late last night. Stephen Jenkins told his parents that the flight on Sunday was the only way they could get out of tire country. It cost them $47 each to fly out. Mrs Jenkins said the pair were well treated in Laos and had enough to eat.
Soccer.—Mansfield Town beat Wrexham, 2-1, in an English F.A. Cup first-round second replay at Aston Villa’s ground. Mansfield is now at home to Lincoln City in the second round on Saturday.
