More room for staff

Alterations will begin as soon as possible to the Canterbury Regional Planning Authority’s offices at 143 Worcester Street to give more room for the staff of 20, now working in cramped quarters. A meeting of the authority on Tuesday approved the work, estimated to cost $B5OO, to create two offices and a work-room in the present meeting room, pnd another office at the entrance foyer.

“Conditions for the staff will not be greatly improved, but this is a shortterm plan, I would think for about two years. By then, the authority should know what its status will be in the regional government scheme, and can look for new offices,” said the chairman (Mr D. B. Rich). The authority will, in the meantime, rotate its meetings between different council chambers in the city.
