Labour TV ad allowed

A judge of Sydney’s Equity Court has refused to grant an injunction sought by the Prime Minister (Mr Malcolm Fraser) to stop a Labour Party television ! commercial from being I broadcast. Mr Justice Helsham refused the injunction sought [ by solicitors for Mr Fraser against a commercial in i which the Prime Minister I makes a statement about the basic right of a party j with a Lower House I majority to expect that it will be allowed to govern. The commercial repeats the statement three times.
and then a voice says “Mr Fraser, how can we believe a word you say?” Mr Spender, Q.C., for [ Mr Fraser, said the mater- I ial was seriously de- ; famatory of the Prime Minister. He said Mr Fraser made the statement only once on I the television programme ; “Monday Conference.” Mr Justice Helsham told Mr Spender he would not grant the injunction.. Mr Spender said that because the election blackout I comes into effect on television at midnight tonight, he did not think it was j worth waiting for the tea- ! sons for the judgment.
