Boarding-house passed in

One of the better known i buildings in Lyttelton, rhe old boarding-house at 19 Ox- ( ford Street, failed to attract a buyer when offered at public auction yesterday. The house, which has 24 bedrooms, and a manager’s flat, is built of corrugated iron, and occupies completely the section adjacent to the office of “The Press.” It is thought to be more! than 80 years old.

The auctioneer. Mr C. M. Robertson, of Sherris and Robertson, said that he was surprised that the old propertv had not fetched at least 517,000 to $lB,OOO. It still qualified as a boardinghouse, said Mr Robertson, and with the future of Lyttelton fully assured by container facilities, he thought it would have excited more interest.
