A survey puts Canterbury, Nelson and the West Coast as the cheapest regions. The average cost for an executive, three-bedroom, 110 sq. m house, is $218.80 a square metre.
Wellington is the most expensive area, with figures of $207.22 for a standard house and $254.62 for an executive house. The central North Island is next highest, followed by Auckland and the lower half of the South Island.
