Crossings and lights

Sir.—Can anyone in the ; Christchurch City Council i indicate when crossings and' lights are to be installed at* the Hills Road. Shirley Road* and Warrington Street coroners? The numbers of children and adults who have to; itry to cross to the shopping, 'centre and schools, and the: 'amount of cars in a hurry merging at the corners, even with a supervised school patrol and stops, are distracting and alarming. I do not know the permanent injury record o raccident ratio, but what place do we have in the necessity queue? It must rate alongside how efficient Shirley Road and Marshland Road intersection.—Yours, etc., GRAEME STANLEY. November 20. 1975.

[The Town Clerk (Mr J. H. Gray) replies: “Traffic signals at this intersection are planned for the 1976-77 financial year. The installation work is to be done in association with the construction of a new traffic island and resurfacing of the carriageways. It is hoped that this work will be completed within nine months.”] i
