He became a priest in 1934 and Archdeacon of London in 1963. The documentary follows his career from the time he left New Zealand, and probes into his religious beliefs. Martin Sullivan was criticised in some quarters during the early part of his career as dean, for his efforts to make the Church more relevant to rhe modern world. He went on to become a national figure and played a large part in promoting the fund-raising efforts to save St Paul’s. About s6m was raised to restore war-damaged iparts of the cathedral.
