Pres* Assn—Copyright) SYDNEY i The Sydney “Daily Tele-! graph” said in an editorial that the deposed Labour Prime Minister, Mr Gough Whitlam, “freely admits that of course, unemployment and inflation are higher today than they were when Labour came to power.” It went on: “What he fails! to concede openly is that: New Zealand, which has also! been ruled by Labour since i 1972. has no unemployment and a much slower and lower . inflation rate than that suffered by Australian wage! earners. I “It does have a policy geared to the minimum j amount of public spending.”’ "There are no massive wel-i fare programmes such as! those undertaken by Mrl Whitlam’s Government! which, however laudable may anpear to be, our economy at this stage cannot yet; ! afford.” ; Mr Whitlam told 45001 people in Adelaide: “What has happened in Australia could not happen in New: Zealand. I “It could not happen in I Britain and it could not happen in Canada. It could not I even happen in Queensland, where they are very interested in who goes into the Upper House in Canberra but where they don’t have one i themselves.”
