National ad. ’offensive'

(N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 24 Leaders of Auckland’s Polynesian community have laid formal complaints with the Race Relations Conciliator (Mr H D. B. Dansev) against a National Party television advertisement. They describe as offensive a cartoon section which appears to show a Polynesian hitting a pakeha outside a hotel. The co-chairman of the Pacific Islanders' Advisory Council (Mr V. Ala-Ilima-Eteuati) said he and others had lodged complaints with Mr Dansev after reading an “Auckland Star” editorial which called for the withdrawal of the advertisement "What National is aiming at in this advertisement is to extract the worst in people,” he said.
