Share prices drift on Australian market
Share prices drifted in lacklustre trading on Australian stock exchanges yesterday, and leading industrial and mining issues registered both rises and falls.
Domestic and overseas news did not provide sufficient stimulus for a clear trend, traders said. On the industrial sector, iB.H.P. mirrored the tone of I the market, trading unchanged at 676 c, after earlier falling to 670 c. A.C.I. lost 5c at 145 c, and E.Z. Industries 2c at 296 c. Bank issues had a mixed day. The Wales rose 5c at 670 c, but the National Bank dropped 35c to 275 c. Retailers also lost momentum, with Coles falling 1c at 136 c and Myers 6c at 200 c, while Waltons gained 2c at 112 c. Grace Bros, traded unchanged. In the mining sector, Pancontinental stood out, rising 36c to 810 c, but other uranium issues declined. Queensland Mines fell 5c at il9sc and Kathleen InvestIments 2c at 148 c. , Utah eased 14c at 946 c. I despite its coal price increase jin Europe.
