Indications from round the, country are that the New Zealand lamb trade is steadily improving. However by mid-week the market had settled, with downward pressure from the record production of domestic beef. Amid this activity, there was very little trading of imported beef for delivery in the rest of 1975, and the relatively few sales of New Zealand beef for delivery in Smithfield market firmed as January were quoted on present price levels about U.S. 60c per lb c.i.f. as reported two weeks ago.
