‘TRUTH’ S.I.S. LINK?
<N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. A connection between the Security Intelligence Service and the weekly newspaper, “Truth," was was suggested again today, this time by the Socialist Action League. In a statement the league’s, candidate for the Petone electorate, Mr Russell John-; son, said a recent article had 1 quoted directly from a num-' ber of the party’s confidential papers and from an item of j private correspondence. “The paper’s use of this material has prompted us to ask a number of questions. To what extent is our political activity under surveillance? How did ‘Truth’ gain access to these documents, especially the private letter? Did the S.I.S, supply ‘Truth’ with this information?” Mr Johnson asked. Mr Johnson also released a copy of submissions presented to the Ombudsman (Sir Guv Powles), who is at present investigating the S.T.S., asking the same questions.
