Youth burgled TV shop
After a retirement of two hours, a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday found Thomas Andrew Lintott, aged 19, a! woollen-mill worker, guilty on a charge of burglary of the premises of Ace Cycle and TV, Ltd. at High Street, Kaiapoi. Lintott was also found guilty on a charge of unlawfully getting into a station waggon, valued at $l2OO. the property of Barry Arthur Housten. Mr Justice Roper remanded Lintott in custody to November 13 for sentence. Mr G. E. Langham ap-'
peared for the Crown and! Mr K. N. Hampton for Lin-; tott, w’ho pleaded not guilty! to both charges. The jury added a rider toj ' its verdicts recommending leniency as it considered that Lintott was a junior; party in the burglary. His Honour told the jury, I after the verdicts were; given, that Lintott had 18; previous convictions. in-j eluding three for burglary. Evidence was given that 1 the station waggon was! taken by another personl from a hotel and was used to remove property stolen • from the shop. The goods stolen included; two colour television sets, I car' and transistor radios, ca-. sette players, and a stereo! set. Entry was gained to the; ■shop through the roof.
