Darts hopes boosted
New Zealand’s chances of beating Australia in the international darts match at Lower Hutt tonight were boosted on Thursday evening when the tourists were beaten, 27-22, by the Area 3 (northern South Island) team ■in Christchurch.
Although the visitors did not play up to their top form, it was’ a surprise that the local men should have a 14-10 advantage.
Area 3 also took a commanding lead in the women’s section, winning the first six games, before Australia drew even and finally lost, on a play-off at 13-12. Gordon Allpress, of Canterbury, has additional reason to recall his encounter with the Australians by recording his sixty-fifth possible (180).
