Young boy hit by car
A nine-year-old boy who was struck by a car in Hampshire Street, Aranui, at 7.30 a.m. yesterday is in a fair condition in Christchurch Hospital.
He is Philip Judah Matenga, of 39 Carisbrooke Street, Aranui. who was taken to hospital suffering head injuries.
Two men and a boy were admitted to hospital last evening after a motor-cycle and a car collided in Cambridge Terrace.
Two ambulances and a fire engine attended the accident, which occurred about 8.30 p.m. The conditions of the injured were not available last night. They are: John Taylor, aged 20. of 6 Rummery Street, Hamilton, who is in The Princess Margaret Hospital with- lacerations: Nigel Francis Kerr, aged 20, of Salisbury, No. 2 R.D., Timaru, who was admitted to Burwood Hospital with lacerations and head injuries; and I Stewart Donald McKenzie, aged 12. of 5/o8 Geraldine i Street. St Albans, who was I admitted to Christchurch 'Hospital with serious head and leg injuries. A man who was admitted to Burwood Hospital with bums on Thursday evening after two cars collided at the comer of Yaldhurst Road and Nortons Road about 10.20 is in a satisfactory condition. He is Gregory Thomas, iaged 24. of Hasketts Roads, 'Yaldhurst. Both cars were extensively damaged by a fire thought to I have been caused when spilt I petrol ignited. ’ Appliances from Sockburn and Harewood and a crash tender were at the accident.
