Promotion council for coal
A Coal Promotion Council has been established in New Zealand with the support of I the Government. The chairman is the presii dent of the New Zealand Coal Merchants’ Federation (Mr S. j Armstrong). The council, which met for
the first time in mid-October, consists of representatives of the Departments of Mines and Energy Resources, the Coal Research Association, the United Mineworkers’ Union. Tourist and Publicity Department, and coal merchants. The functions of the council will be to plan and coordinate advertising and promotional programmes on a national basis, and to regularly publish information to make industrial and domestic coal customers aw’are of coal, and coal-burning appliances. The council will also provide speakers for seminars, sponsor displays, undertake to educate those involved in coal marketing and to make the coal industry’s view on clean air known to the Gov-j emment. The Minister of Mines (Mr. Colman) has expressed his! 'approval. 1
