Callins is champion rider

Peter Collins, who will be. touring New Zealand with the British Lions this summer, has won the British league riders’ championship. Phil Crump (Australia) was the runnerup. Ivan Mauger (New Zealand), obviously deeply affected by the death of a fellow New Zealand test rider, Gary Peterson, was a mere shadow of his usual self, scoring only six points to share tenth place with Tommy Jansson (Sweden). Mauger wore a black armband as a mark of respect to Peterson. Incidentally, Chris Pusey and not Collins will captain the Lions on their New Zealand tour.
