Water level in tip up

The ground water level at the Carrs Road rubbish tip had risen much higher than previously, and was still rising, the County Engineer (Mr J. D. Annan) told a meeting of the finance committee of the Paparua County Council last evening. “This concerns me greatly J but efforts are being made to reduce the deleterious effect of our dumping wherever possible and by whatever means are at our disposal.” he said. The committee was told that Messrs Morgan and, Pollard, owners of property, adjoining the pit, had written to express concern! about what was happening at the pit. Thev asked the council to, landscape the surroundings, to take positive steps to improve its rubbish disposal system, and to survey other' shingle pits to see how they could best be used. Cr E. C.
