Newspaper sues its employees
Z P A Reuter-—Copyright/ WASHINGTON. Oct. 29. The ’‘Washington Post” is suing its striking printing leaders for $l5 million, charging them with "planned, systematic and calculated attempt to destroy the newspaper’s capacity to publish.” The complaint, filed in the Superior Court, asked for $lO million to compensate the newspaper for costs incurred as a result of the walk-out. An additional S" million in damages to deter acts of vandalism is also being sought. The walk-out by members of the International Printing and Graphic Communciations Union began on October 1. Before leaving, some members sabotaged the presses bv setting fire to them and removing essentia! controls. ! The assistant pressroom foreman. Mr James Hover, was "held bv two pressmen and seriously beaten by others.” the “Washington Post” told the Court. Negotiations aimed at “settling the strike are deadlocked.
