SAHARA MARCH

CN.Z.P.A .Reuter —C up y right)

MARRAKESH. October 27.

The United Nations (Secretary-General (Dr Kurt (Waldheim) is due to meet Presidents Moktar Quid Daddah of Mauritania and Boumedienne of Algeria today in his continuing attempt to resolve the dispute over the Spanish-held western Sahara.

Dr Waldheim left Marrakesh last night for the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, after discussing the problem with King Hassan, who is organising a mass "peace march” into the territory to back Morocco’s claim of sovereignty. Mauritania also lays claim to the territory. Already, 100.000 of the 350,000 unarmed marchers enlisted by the Monarch are massed around the tiny frontier town of Tarfaya. When they move into western Sahara they will outnumber [the local nomad population by almost five to one.
