‘Computer started by National'

The Minister of Health (Mr McGuigan) has questioned I the credibility of the Leader (of the Opposition (Mr Muiidqon). j He said that in criticising ithe Government for pressing (on with the proposed computer for health and hospital services, Mr Muldoon had 'overlooked the fact that the : National Government had launched plans for a fourIcentre computer system for (health services. ■ “It got off the ground with (great difficulty, and has been la continuing source of conicern and frustration both to {doctors and administrators,” (Mr McGuigan said. ■ “Auckland was the only lone of the four centres (established. The system deIveloped there has been critiicised by the Public Expenditure Committee of Parliatneni. and the Controller and Auditor-General continues to (comment adversely on it. I “The Waikato Hospital Board withdrew from the Auckland system, and other (boards have been demanding a more effective and efficient (service,” Mr McGuigan said. Since November of last (year all board administrators (had joined consultations for ithe new service.
