New Caledonia XI may tour

New Caledonia will be invited to make a soccer tour of New Zealand next year, to play eight matches over a period of 19 days. A list of guaranteed costs have been sent to associations seeking matches in their centres. They are $4650 for Saturday games, $5250 for Sunday fixtures, and $2200 for midweek matches.

Diving.—Jacques Mayol, of France, set a new record for deep diving without breathing apparatus by descending to 91m (291.48 ft in the sea off the Mediterranean island of Elba. Mayol broke the previous record of 87m (285.43 ft set by his Italian rival, Enzo Majorca, in September, 1974.
