Support for petition

(From Out Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Oct. 22. In four days more than 1500 persons have signed a petition supporting the export of West Coast resources, such as Mount Davy coal, direct from the West Coast through a mono-mooring system or a deepwater port. The organiser, the Port Action Group, wants 3000 signatures. The signatures will be sent to West Coast Mineral Resources, Ltd, next week, and a photocopy will go to the Prime Minister (Mr Rowling). Requests for the petition to be displayed in Hokitika and Reefton have been received. It has met a good response in Cobden, Kumara iand the Greymouth business i area.
