United in tourney

The talented Australian mid-court player, Brian Cottell, will be back in New Zealand in time to lead the Christchurch United men’s basketball team in the annual Hastings Moteliers Masters tournament from October 24 to 27. The team, an invitation one, is made-up entirely of players from other clubs but must be a contender for top honours if it can play as a unit. It is: Neville Costain, Allan Manco, Ed Manco, Paul Trass, Russell McCormack, Murray Mackay, Carl Stent, Peter Howell, and Cottell. The team to beat will be the Auckland side, Coca-Cola, which will probably have the services of the 6ft 7in American, Don Orndorff.
