Priestley at Court Theatre
A play by J. B Priestly, described as a ‘’parable mystery,” will be the next production at the Court Theatre. “An Inspector Calls” is set in an industrial English citx A young girl apparently commits suicide, and a seem ingly respectable family are subjected to an inquiry in connection with the death. An inspector calls to interrogate them, and in the course of his questioning all members of the family are implicated in the girl’s undoing. The family, close-knit and friendly at the start of questioning, are exposed as self-centred or cowardly, their good humour turned sour, and their good fellowship turned to enmity. The play will open on October 25. and will run until November 15.
OPERATIC EDITOR John Barrett. former managing editor of the “Waikato Times.” is to be editor of “Spotlight,” the magazine of the Federation of Operatic Societies. Mrs Margaret Reid, the former editoT of the magazine, has resigned.
