Dunedin businessman dies
One of Dunedin’s most prominent business figures, Mr William Hall Masters, has died suddenly aged 63.
Mr Masters was wellknown both as an accountant and businessman- and at the time of his death was chairman of the recently formed company, Allied Press, Ltd. In a business career that spanned more than 40 years, Mr Masters had served as chairman of directors and a director of many well-known Dunedin companies. He was chairman of directors of the Otago Daily Times for 10 years before the formation of Allied Press. Mr Masters was also the chairman of directors of Naylor Love Construction Company, Ltd. He was a Justice of the Peace. He was also active in lodge affairs, being a past provincial grand master of M.U.1.0.0.F., a past president of the Dominion Council of Friendly Societies and a freemason. He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter.
