Word game on radio
When “Just a Minute” began in Britain 10 years ago no-one envisaged that it would become one of the 8.8.C.’s most popular comedy programmes. It now enjoys an audience of millions around the world. Jean Marsh, star of i "Upstairs, Downstairs” is a guest on the panel in the first programme of a new series to be broadcast from the national programme, beginning next Saturday. The chairman. Nicholas Parsons, comments that over the years the producers have found few women successful in this somewhat sophisticated game, notable exceptions including Jean Marsh. Although the format of the show is a showcase for verbal dexterity within veryconfining rules. Mr Parsons attributes the superiority of men in this instance to a “little boy” delight in playing games, especially of oneupmanship. There are four regular players of the game — Kenneth Williams, Derek Nimmo, Clement Freud and Peter Jones. —
