Cleric from N.Z. dies

(N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) MALMESBURY (England), October 5. A former Archbishop of Quebec, the Most Rev. Philip Carrington, a New Zealander, has died in . hospital in Malmesbury. He was 83. Bom in England, he was educated in New Zealand at Christ’s College and the Canterbury University College and later at Cambridge. He moved to Australia, where he became warden of St Barnabas’s College, Adelaide.

In Canada, he became professor of divinity of Bishops University, Bishop of Quebec in 1935, and was Metropolitan Archbishop of the province from 1944 to 1960. On his retirement in 1960 he and his wife went to live in the English village of Little S,omerford.
