Multi-racial tour invite

Press Assn—Copyright) JOHANNESBURG Th* South African Rugby Union Board appeared to hava ended a month of speculation when It acknowledged yesterday that the French Rugby Federation had Invited It to send a multi-racial team to tour France In 1»77 or 1V». The French federation president (Mr Albert Ferrassel wrote to the South Africans last month but received no reply. It was generally understood that the all-white Springboks would not be allowed to tour France again until the South Africans sent a multiracial team In March, the South African Government agreed in Cabinet to the selection of a multi-racial invitation Rugby team to play the French team that toured South Africa in June. The French had threatened to cancel the four If they could not play a multi-racial team.
