M.P. waiting for reply
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. The Minister of Tourism (Mrs Tirikatene-Sullivan) is awaiting a reply from the editor of the Dunedin “Evening Star” before lodging a complaint with the Press Council over her dispute with the paper. A spokesman for the Minister’s office said today that Mrs Tirikatene-Sullivan had written to the editor some days ago, and was fully aware of the procedures to be followed in referring a matter to the council. Mrs Tirikatene-Sullivan denies that she gave a telephone interview to an “Evening Star” reporter, while the reporter and the newspaper assert that the interview was given. Once a reply has been received from the “Evening Star,” the question will go to the council.
