(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 2. A petition calling for the Government to ban all vessels or aircraft which could carry nuclear weapons from New Zealand was reported back to Parliament today from the Petitions Committee with a recommendation that, it be referred to the Govern-! ment for favourable consider- ( ation. The petition, from Marie! Frances Leadbeater and 1091 others, also called for the existing ban on nuclear-< powered vessels to be maintained (which was recommended for consideration) and for urgent action at all. appropriate international! forums to establish a nuclear weapon-free zone in the South Pacific (which was recommended for most favourable consideration).
