Free-fall record attempt

CN.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Oct. 2.

Twenty-five skydivers will attempt to set a Commonwealth record for a free-fall star formation in the Blenheim area at Labour Weekend.

Two of the skydivers will record the drop on film. The other 23 will be straining to manoeuvre themselves into a star formation to grip wrists long enough to break the present record — a 22-man star set by Australia. If they manage to do this, they will also have broken the present New Zealand 11-man record.

They will jump from a DC3 — under the flag of the New Zealand Parachuting Federation. The skydivers will come mostly from Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Nelson, Manawatu, and Christchurch.
