Yacht race sponsored

(N.Z. Press Assn— Copyright) SYDNEY. The 1975 Sydney to Hobart yacht race on December 26 will be sponsored for the first time in its 31-year history. Trans Australia Airlines announced that an undisclosed five-figure sum could be donated to race organisers —the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia—to ease administrative costs. The airline will also spend about $20,000 on promotion of the race, and associated travel programmes. The race last year cost about $35,000 to stage. Yachts from New Zealand, the United States, Britain, and Japan are expected to swell the fleet above the 1973 record of 101.
