Pacific aid projects
Volunteer Service Abroad will develop its rural aid in the Pacific region next year. The object is to improve the standard of living in rural districts, where most of the population lives. A sawmiller will travel through country districts in Papua New Guinea with a portable sawmill, teaching country workers how to use the equipment. Improving water-supplies in the New Hebridies has high priority, and efforts will be made to improve medical services in the Solomon Islands. v Other projects include sending farm managers to Fiji and sending builders to the New Hebrides to help erect clinics and schools.
