Teachers’ strike threat

Sir, — It is indeed gratifying and most heartening to have our claim for parity with secondary teachers described as moderate, especially by J. Dugdale, who believe is an ex-secondary teacher himself. The “things” which J. Dugdale wishes to have clarified were in fact itemised by G. J. Prangnell in these columns last week when he said that “the claim seeks the same basic salary for teachers with the same training, qualifications, experience,

and responsibility regardless of the age of the child being taught.” I challenge J. Dugdale or any other reader to put forward any valid reasons why this should not be so. —Yours, etc., I. T. J. LINDSAY. September 29, 1975.
