Letter Box

Could somebody please throw some light on this year’s selection of the Olympic ski team? Jon Jarvis, who, after training by himself, and being refused access to the downhill course, won* all events, in the nationals and has not been chosen. Miss Archibald (now 16 years), who has shown maturity and skill in coming first in the same events, also has been ignored. Misses Allison, Archibald, and Johnson have been bypassed for the fourth and sixth placegetters. Is this because credit for the three girls’ success might go to their coach, Weiner Hanoi? If last year’s woman’s national winner has been selected on that basis, why does not the same logic apply to last year’s men’s national winner? —M.P.U.
