Sue Bishop leads

(N Z. Press Association' NAPIER Two Australians and one New Zealander had the lowest second-round scores in the New Zealand women’s amateur golf stroke-play championship at the Napier Golf Club course yesterday. Sue Bishop, of Russley, was the top qualifier with a two-round aggregate of 155, one stroke ahead of Gayle Flynn, the 25-year-old from Applecross, Western Australia.

Miss Flynn, a fellow-Aus-tralian, Helene Gosse—the smallest woman in the field — and Miss Sue Boag of Waitikiri. all had second rounds of 75, one over par.

The title-holder, Jean Whitehead of Manawatu. is still well back in the field, being six strokes behind Mrs Bishop. The first-round leader, Mrs Elizabeth Douglas, slipped back three strokes yesterday with an 80, leaving her two strokes behind I Mrs Bishop. Mrs Bishop putted better. She had nine pars for the first nine and she had a birdie on the tenth She dropped strokes at the fourteenth, fifteenth, and seventeenth.

Miss Boag went out in 36 and came home in 39. She went two under the card at the twelfth when she scored I a very easy birdie. She parred the thirteenth and [fourteenth but dropped shots on the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth.
