Mr Hilgendorf. attending a meeting of New Zealand's I North American trade ■ officials, said prices for New (Zealand beef in the United I States were still ‘'abysmally I low ” But, he said, prices had improved. a few cents in recent | weeks to about 65c per lb, land in the long term they ‘could go higher. ( “Of course, they would have to rise about 50 per cent to equate to the price; the board is paying farmers, and 100 per cent to make meat really pay ”
