Two men stabbed in street
fN.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. Two men were stabbed in an incident in central Wellington today after going to the assistance of a pedestrian who had been tripped. The police were this evening still looking for the stabber. Neither of the stabbed men was seriously injured. They were treated at Wellington Hospital for stab wounds to the arms, and discharged.
The incident occurred in the busy Cuba Street shopping area about 4.15 p.m. A man was tripped by two young men as he walked down Cuba Street. He took no action, but three men who had seen the tripping followed the two men involved. They caught up with the two in nearby Garrett Street, and a fight began, said Detective Sergeant R. G. Carson. Two men were stabbed during the fight.
Police called to- the scene found one of the two men involved in the tripping. The other man had fled from the area.
