Mr Stott has new plans
Mr L. F. Stott, director of Stott Promotions. Ltd, which organised the "Cash Bonanza”’j competition for two sports bodies, said yesterday that the failed competition could not he ended without the help of the sports bodies. In June, the competition foundered when sales were less than expected and the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association and the
.Sew Zealand Weight-lifting Association withdrew their support. Since then, there has been an attempt to salvage the competition and pay off ticket-holders and other creditors to the company. But this "pledge offer’’ failed to bring the needed response, and Mr Stott is now working on another way to save the ; competition and pav off the creditors. But he said yesterday that liability rested with the two sports associations, as well as with Stott Promotions. Until these two associations were prepared to sit down to discuss the matter, the whole thing would be very drawn out.
Mr Stott said his company was still in existence but not operational. He was still in the fund-raising business but on his own account, he said. He would not say what new scheme he had nlanned to save the competition, because, he said, this might upset the plans.
