Teachers fined
The Boston School Teachers’ Union was fined $5OOO for defying a court order banning their two-day-old strike. Judge Samuel Adams also imposed a similar fine for each day the strike continues. The strike over a pay dispute, has reduced attendance in Boston’s public schools to less than 10 per cent of the 75,000 registered students. — Boston. No antiques ban London’s art and antique dealers have dropped a plan to boycott Christie’s and Sotheby’s sale rooms because of their introduction of a 10 per cent charge on buyers. The British Antique t Dealers’ Association said that it had decided a total boycott would only hurt the capital’s £loom art and antique trade. — London. Arms possession Bangladesh police have rounded up 114 people, bringing the total detained in a week-long drive against illegal arms possession to more than 600. A police statement said that the raids in 13 district areas also led to the recovery of a large stock of automatic weapons. — Dacca.
